Biography

Professor Stanko Bejatović, the President of Serbian Association for Criminal Law and Practice, is a Full Professor at the Department for Criminal Law of Faculty of Law at University of Kragujevac. He was born in 1952 in a town named Gacko. He graduated at Faculty of Law, University of Srajevo in 1974. He obtained his MA degree at Faculty of Law in Belgrade in 1977, with a paper entitled as “Reoffending in Criminal Law of SFRY”. In 1983, he defended his PhD theses on the topic “Conditional Sentence – Establishment, Systems and Current Condition, with Special Focus on Yugoslavian Criminal Legislation”. He obtained the title of docent in 1989, and in 1990, he was given the title of Senior Lecturer.

In 1996, Stanko Bejatović became a Full Professor. When it comes to further professional education and training at foreign institutions, he made a study visit to Faculty of Law at University of Munich, as well as to to Institute of State and Law of Russian Academy of Sciences.

Along with his regular scientific and academic engagement, Professor Bejatović has also participated in several additional projects including the following ones: Serbia and European Law, Human and Citizens’ Right and Freedoms in the Concept of new legislation of the Republic of Serbia and Serbian Legal System and the Standards of European Union and Council of Europe.

During his career as an academic and lecturer, Professor Bejatović has been awarded numerous Prizes and Recognitions, the most significant of which is The 2004 Award of the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection for Exceptional Results accomplished during the realization of projects from Fundamental Research Program for the period between 2002 and 2003 in the A2 Category.

Professor Stanko Bejatović is the author of an impressive number of books, monographs, research articles published in eminent national and foreign scientific journals and conference papers exposed on scientific conferences organized on national and international level.
